Mission Statement

It is the mission of Soddy-Daisy High School to utilize the facilities, tools, and personnel to provide educational programs which will encourage students to develop to their highest potential and become life-long learners and responsible, contributing members of society.

Beliefs

Fundamental to the development of a superior educational program are the basic beliefs by which our learning and teaching processes are developed. Here are some of our beliefs:

  • Each student is a valued and unique individual -- physically, socially, emotionally, intellectually, and culturally.
  • All students given the opportunity can learn and achieve.
  • A safe, disciplined, and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning.
  • Learning is facilitated when both students and teachers are actively involved in the learning process.
  • Students learn to make appropriate decisions given a supportive and challenging learning environment and high expectations.
  • Developmentally appropriate learning activities enhance learning at all levels.
  • Students, teachers, parents, and the community share the responsibility for the support of the school's mission.
  • Instructional practices should incorporate learning activities that take into account differences in learning styles.
  • The educational process should emphasize learning and the grade should reflect this emphasis through the application of knowledge.
  • A low Teacher/pupil ratio is a key component of the educational process.
