Soddy-Daisy is a suburban community located in the outskirts of Chattanooga, Tennessee, a city with a metropolitan population of approximately 300,000. Soddy Daisy High School utilizes block scheduling.  Geographically, the zone covers an area of 144 square miles of the North Hamilton County area.  The student body represents a variety of socio-economic groups including those families who still operate small farms and those parents who are chemists, physicists, and executives at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant.  Although the students are primarily Caucasian, other races represented include Asian, African-American, Hispanic, and Native American.  Over 70% of graduating seniors enroll at a college or university.  Others attend vocational schools, enlist in the Armed Forces, or enter the workforce.
