SDHS JROTC Accomplishments

1. 1st place in Hamilton County Army Federal Cadet Inspection (conducted every three years by the 7th Brigade) scored a 99.6% which was the highest score ever in the 7th Brigade. We broke the old Brigade record of 99.3% which was held by Soddy Daisy in 2008

2. Leadership and Academic Team:

    1. National Champions of the Leadership Bowl 2010
    2. Third place in the 2011 Leadership bowl
    3. The Top 40 teams qualify from 1650 JROTC nationwide

3. Rifle Team:

  1. 1st place Mid-East TN Rifle League Tournament
  2. 1st Place Superintendent’s Trophy Cup Match
  3. 1st Place in the Mid-East TN Rifle League (Record 9-0)
  4. 1st Place Overall Shooter, Cadet Joseph Williams, at the 7th Brigade Regional Competition at Fort Knox, (teams from MI, IN, KY, OH, WV, TN)

4. Raider Team

  1. 2nd Place Hamilton County League Competition Girls Team
  2. 2nd Place Overall in the Boxwell Raider Competition Girls Team
  3. 4th Place Overall Stearns Raider Competition

5. Drill Team:

  1. 1st Place Hamilton County Drill Competition Champions (3 Years in a row)
  2. 1st Place Squad IDR; 5th Place Platoon IDR @ the 7th Brigade Regional Competition at Fort Knox, (teams from MI, IN, KY, OH, WV, TN)

6. Battalion Accomplishments:

  1. 1st Place Chattanooga Armed Forces Day Parade
  2. Community Service Projects
  • JROTC Food Drive– Collected over 3,000 cans for local church food banks
  • 2 JROTC Blood Drives– Collected over 250 pints of blood
  • 20 cadets– participated in the Chambers Harvest Food Drive
  • 48 cadets– participated in the Chattanooga Special Olympics
  • 36 cadet– participated in the Ronald McDonald’s Autumn Children’s Festival
  • 42 cadets– participated in the McConnell Elementary School Carnival Fund Raiser
  • Cadet Thomas won a Scholarship to attend Tennessee Girls State
  • Cadet Pippin won a Scholarship to attend Tennessee Boys State
  • Cadets Robinson and Thompson recieved Scholarships from American Legion Post 107 to attend Boy’s State
  • Cadet Gordon was selected as the Top Leadership Award at the 2011 Junior Cadet Leadership Camp(JCLC)
  • Cadet Pippin recieved the Sons of the American Revolution Cadet of the Year Award

7. JROTC Service Learning Project

  • 200 cadets participated in 3 major service learning projects: The Autumn Children’s Festival, McKamey Animal Shelter Drive, and the Daisy Elementary Christmas party.

8. JROTC Sports and Student Affairs

  1. Senior Class President
  2. Junior Class President
  3. 6 cadets members of the school’s leadership program
  4. 5 cadets in student council/ government
  5. Total of 21 cadets on Varsity Sports Teams
  6. Cadet Lindsey Smith is the secretary of the National Honor Society
